King & Queen of the Ring 2025: Format Revealed and Big Stakes

On this Friday’s edition of SmackDown, June 6th, WWE surprised fans with the long-awaited announcement of the return of the classic King and Queen of the Ring tournaments, which promise to heat up the road to SummerSlam 2025. The announcement was made backstage by Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis, revealing that this year’s edition will feature some exciting changes to its structure.

Both competitions will feature 16 participants, in a dynamic format that will begin with four Fatal 4-Way matches in each tournament. The winners of these intense battles will advance to the semifinals, paving the way for even more electrifying clashes.

The grand climax of the tournaments will take place during the Night of Champions event, scheduled for June 28th, live from Saudi Arabia. The finals of the King and Queen of the Ring will be held on that special night, crowning WWE’s new kings and queens.

And it doesn’t stop there: following the model adopted in 2024, the champions of each tournament will earn the right to challenge for their respective brand’s world title at SummerSlam, one of the biggest stages in professional wrestling.

With this, WWE revives the tradition of the tournaments while injecting a dose of innovation, creating sky-high expectations among fans. Who will stand out among the 16 warriors? And who will have the strength to turn the crown into gold at SummerSlam?
