Kevin Owens’ WWE Future Uncertain After Serious Neck Injury

Kevin Owens was on the verge of one of the biggest matches of his career: a high-profile showdown with Randy Orton at WrestleMania 41. But what was shaping up to be a major highlight quickly turned into frustration and concern. A serious neck injury forced Owens out of WWE’s plans and cast a shadow over his in-ring future.
Although he has yet to undergo surgery, the delay appears to be intentional. Speaking candidly on Cody Rhodes’ podcast, Owens explained that doctors are monitoring his spinal cord, hoping it will recover enough on its own to avoid a more invasive procedure. The complexity of the surgery will depend on how the injury progresses until the scheduled operation in mid-July.
“We’re waiting as long as we can to see how much my spinal cord can heal on its own,” Owens said. “Depending on that, it might be a standard neck fusion. Or something more serious. We just don’t know yet.”
At first, Owens said he felt fine. No pain, no visible symptoms. But that changed dramatically in recent days. In a sudden turn, he began experiencing intense neck pain, numbness in his arms, weakness in his legs, and other troubling signs. “It all hit at once. It’s been brutal,” he admitted, visibly frustrated with the situation
This isn’t the first time Owens has had his WrestleMania dreams derailed. Years ago, he was reportedly set for a main event match against Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35. However, plans changed when Kofi Kingston’s fan-fueled momentum earned him the WWE Championship opportunity instead.
Now, with both fans and WWE closely watching his recovery, the uncertainty around Owens’ return to the ring continues to grow, but one thing remains certain: Kevin Owens is still fighting, this time outside the ropes, determined to reclaim his place at the top of the wrestling world.
