Is Matt Cardona Poised for a Big WWE Return in 2025?

Since his last appearance in WWE in 2020, Matt Cardona has been mainly active on the independent circuit, showcasing his skills in various promotions worldwide. The 40-year-old wrestler has hinted at a WWE comeback several times, but nothing official has materialized yet. It is worth noting that his wife, Chelsea Green, is currently part of the SmackDown roster and has been a strong supporter of Cardona’s return to the company.

Recently, during the latest episode of TNA Impact, an unexpected moment caught fans’ attention. The faction Darkstate, composed of Dion Lennox, Cutler James, Saquon Shugars, and Osiris Griffin, who have been causing chaos in NXT, launched a surprise attack on Matt Cardona, signaling that he is far from out of action.

On the other side, the group The System, made up of Moose, Brian Myers, Eddie Edwards, Alisha Edwards, and JDC, did not take the ambush lightly. This could lead to a crossover rivalry between the two factions, creating a conflict between TNA and WWE.

This attack on Cardona could be an important sign of his planned WWE return. Since the beginning of the year, the two companies officially announced a partnership that brought several TNA stars to compete in NXT, including Joe Hendry and Jordynne Grace. This collaboration has produced weekly feuds and matches between the two brands, including title disputes and intense rivalries, such as the one between Joe Hendry and Trick Williams, the latter holding the TNA championship while under WWE contract.

With the recent attack on Matt Cardona, it appears he may get his revenge soon, possibly at the upcoming NXT event The Great American Bash. This would be an ideal setting to bring Cardona back into the spotlight and pave the way for a strong return to WWE’s main roster.

Meanwhile, Cardona is also involved in a heated feud with former WWE star Shotzi Blackheart, battling for the symbolic title of “Indy God.” This rivalry gained more attention last month when John Cena delivered his version of a famous pipebomb promo, calling out Matt Cardona and stirring the wrestling world.
