Mark and Jay Briscoe’s Story Told Like Never Before in Upcoming AEW Documentary

A new documentary chronicling the life and legacy of one of pro wrestling’s most iconic tag teams is set to premiere this week. AEW, in partnership with The Players’ Tribune, announced the release of “Two From One: The Briscoe Story,” a film exploring the bond between real-life brothers Jay and Mark Briscoe, their remarkable careers, and the personal impact of Jay’s tragic passing.

The documentary will debut Thursday on AEW’s official YouTube channel. It promises an intimate look into the lives of the Briscoe family, focusing on the enduring partnership between Jay and Mark both inside and outside the wrestling ring. According to a press release, the production highlights the brothers’ journey through professional wrestling and the aftermath of an unthinkable loss.

Mark Briscoe expressed deep gratitude on behalf of his family. He shared that working with The Players’ Tribune has allowed them to tell their story authentically and preserve the memory of Jay in a meaningful way. He added that the family hopes fans will connect with the documentary and continue to honor Jay’s lasting influence in wrestling and beyond.

The Briscoe brothers began their wrestling careers together in 2001, quickly becoming staples of the independent scene. Their greatest success came in Ring of Honor, where they became synonymous with tag team excellence. From 2002 until 2023, Jay and Mark captured the ROH World Tag Team Championship an astounding 13 times, making them one of the most decorated and revered duos in the history of the company.

Jay Briscoe, who also held the ROH World Championship twice as a singles competitor, tragically passed away in a car accident on January 17, 2023, at the age of 38. His sudden death sent shockwaves through the wrestling community and left behind a grieving family, including his wife and three children.

Just weeks before the tragedy, Jay and Mark competed in what would become their final match together. They faced off against FTR in a brutal dog-collar match at ROH’s Final Battle pay-per-view in December 2022, a match that cemented their legacy as one of the greatest tag teams ever. That victory also saw them reclaim the ROH Tag Team titles, a final triumph before Jay’s untimely passing.

Following the loss of his brother, Mark Briscoe remained with AEW and signed a full-time contract with the promotion. Since then, he has dedicated his performances to preserving Jay’s legacy. Mark has captured the ROH World Championship and emerged as one of the most beloved figures in AEW, frequently appearing on shows such as Dynamite, Collision, and major pay-per-view events.

The release of “Two From One: The Briscoe Story” comes just days before another significant moment in Mark’s career. He is set to compete in the men’s Casino Gauntlet match at AEW’s All In event this Saturday. A win would earn him a future shot at the AEW World Championship, adding yet another milestone to his inspiring journey.

This documentary serves not only as a tribute to Jay Briscoe’s life and legacy but also as a testament to the resilience and spirit of his brother Mark. For fans and fellow wrestlers alike, it is a chance to celebrate the careers of two men whose brotherhood and passion for wrestling touched countless lives.
