WWE SummerSlam 2025 to Stream on Netflix Internationally for the First Time

SummerSlam 2025 is shaping up to be one of the most significant events in WWE history. For the first time ever, the premium live event will be streamed on Netflix for international audiences, marking a bold step in WWE’s global expansion strategy. The two-night event will take place on August 2 and 3 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, with over 80,000 fans expected to attend each night.

In the United States, SummerSlam will continue to stream exclusively through Peacock for subscribers of the Premium and Premium Plus plans. Outside the U.S., however, fans from countries such as the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Brazil will be able to watch both nights live on Netflix with no additional fees. This distribution shift is part of the multibillion-dollar deal WWE signed with Netflix earlier this year, which also includes the release of original content such as the docuseries “WWE: Unreal.”

The event itself is stacked with high-stakes matches, returning stars, celebrity appearances, and storyline twists that could reshape the company’s future. The headline match sees Cody Rhodes face John Cena in a Street Fight for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Their rematch, following a heated confrontation at WrestleMania, carries enormous emotional weight. With retirement rumors swirling around Cena, this match could mark a symbolic passing of the torch, or a dramatic turn in Rhodes’ character arc.

In another highly anticipated match, country singer Jelly Roll makes his in-ring debut, teaming up with Randy Orton to take on Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul. The combination of celebrity appeal and veteran star power has drawn attention far beyond traditional wrestling circles, as WWE continues to embrace mainstream crossovers.

The women’s division will also be in the spotlight. Naomi, after cashing in her Money in the Bank contract, will defend her Women’s World Championship in a Triple Threat Match against Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY. In a separate match, Becky Lynch will face Lyra Valkyria in a brutal no-disqualification battle for the Women’s Intercontinental Title, a newly established championship that continues to gain credibility.

Other major matches include Solo Sikoa defending the United States Championship inside a steel cage against Jacob Fatu, and a TLC match for the tag team titles. Roman Reigns will return to action alongside Jey Uso in a tag team bout against Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. WWE officials have hinted at Breakker becoming a central figure in the company’s next generation of top stars.

Off the screen, WWE has been making headlines with the release of its Netflix series “WWE: Unreal,” which pulls back the curtain on the creative process behind its televised events. The series has already sparked controversy, including backstage tension involving Tiffany Stratton and comments that led to internal apologies. Meanwhile, concerns about Seth Rollins’ health have raised questions about his long-term status with the company, adding another layer of unpredictability to SummerSlam weekend.

With a two-night format, global streaming access, and a lineup full of marquee names and evolving storylines, SummerSlam 2025 is more than just a wrestling event. It’s a cultural moment and a signal of where WWE is heading next.
