Roman Reigns Could Be on His Way Back at SummerSlam as Backstage Buzz Heats Up

Roman Reigns has been out of the spotlight since April, when he made his last appearance on the post-WrestleMania 41 edition of RAW. Since then, the “Tribal Chief” has stayed quiet, which has become something of a tradition for him after WWE’s biggest show of the year. However, with SummerSlam quickly approaching, backstage chatter within WWE has started to build around a potential return for the former Undisputed Champion.

According to sources close to the situation, Reigns’ name has been mentioned in several recent creative meetings. The event being considered for his big return? None other than WWE’s biggest summer spectacle, SummerSlam. While nothing has been confirmed officially, insiders suggest that his comeback is being carefully mapped out to make a major impact on WWE’s main event scene.

What remains uncertain is which direction WWE will take with Reigns once he returns. Many believe he may go straight after Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman, with unfinished business left over from WrestleMania 41. That possibility becomes even more intriguing now that Rollins and Heyman have aligned with Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed to form a powerful new faction.

Others speculate that Reigns might revisit his tension-filled feud with CM Punk, while some fans even predict a final showdown against John Cena in a bid to reclaim the Undisputed WWE Championship.

It’s worth noting that Reigns has only competed three times in 2025 so far. He defeated Solo Sikoa in a Tribal Combat match during WWE’s Netflix debut, entered the Royal Rumble, and was ultimately defeated by both Rollins and Punk at WrestleMania 41. With so few appearances this year, fans are eager to see the Head of the Table return to the ring more consistently throughout the rest of the calendar year.

With so many moving pieces in play, the big question now is what Roman Reigns’ next move will be. If history is any indication, his return won’t be subtle and could reshape the entire landscape of WWE heading into the second half of the year.
