Kross and Scarlett’s WWE Future Hangs in the Balance

Kross and Scarlett’s WWE Future Hangs in the BalanceThe future of Karrion Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux in WWE may be on the verge of a major shift. With their contracts nearing expiration, both signed in August 2022 with a three-year duration, there is a real possibility that the couple could become free agents as early as next month. However, behind-the-scenes reports suggest a different scenario.
According to information from Fightful Select, there has been no official confirmation regarding a contract renewal. Even so, sources within WWE strongly believe that both Kross and Scarlett will remain on the active roster. That belief seems justified, as Kross has appeared regularly on WWE programming in recent weeks, received new merchandise, and recently had his first premium live event match since WrestleMania 40 at Night of Champions.
All signs point to WWE still seeing value in Karrion Kross and having plans in motion to keep him and Scarlett in the company for the foreseeable future.
The rebirth of a silent threat
Karrion Kross’s journey in professional wrestling has been marked by ups and downs, but also by unwavering persistence. Before signing with WWE, he built his name in several key promotions including Lucha Underground, AAA, and Impact Wrestling. In each of them, he left a lasting impression with his menacing presence and intense in-ring style.
His impact in NXT was immediate. After debuting in 2020, he quickly captured the brand’s top title by defeating Keith Lee. Unfortunately, a shoulder injury forced him to vacate the title just days later. Still, he bounced back and reclaimed the championship in 2021 by defeating Finn Bálor.
However, his momentum took a major hit after being moved to the main roster. In a widely criticized decision, Kross was defeated by Jeff Hardy in his Raw debut, despite still being the reigning NXT Champion. On top of that, he was saddled with an outlandish costume that undermined his persona as a relentless predator. It came as little surprise when he and Scarlett were released in November 2021.

Back in the game by his own merit
Rehired in 2022, Karrion Kross appeared poised for a more promising chapter. His return immediately placed him in the orbit of Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre. However, after a short feud with McIntyre, he once again faded into the background and was even involved in forgettable storylines such as the Final Testament faction.
What sets Kross apart, though, is his ability to reinvent himself. Even with limited television time, he skillfully used social media to keep his popularity alive. Clever posts, cryptic messages, and creative engagement with fans helped keep his name relevant.
That strategy paid off. His surprise appearance at WrestleMania 41, interfering in the match between AJ Styles and Logan Paul, was met with one of the loudest crowd reactions of the night. Since then, his latest rivalry with Sami Zayn has brought him back into the spotlight, including a hard-fought match at Night of Champions and a backstage attack on Raw that reignited fan interest.
Karrion Kross has proven he knows how to make the most out of every opportunity, no matter how small. He truly embodies the idea of maximizing your minutes, and that alone may be what secures his place in WWE for a long time to come.
