Backstage Crisis in WWE

Backstage Crisis in WWE

Behind the scenes of WWE, a real battle for creative control seems ready to explode, and this time, it’s not part of a scripted storyline. Since Triple H took over the creative department in 2022, following the turbulent departure of Vince McMahon, WWE has entered a new era. Under his leadership, the company has flourished, winning back longtime fans and introducing new talent with a modern approach that balances respect for tradition with bold creativity. However, not everything appears to be as solid as it seems.

According to former WWE personality Jonathan Coachman, a backstage power struggle could radically change the direction of the company. In a recent appearance on the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast, Coachman claimed that Triple H and The Rock, who now sits on the board of TKO, have never gotten along, and that this long-standing personal tension may now be turning into a corporate cold war. More than just backstage drama, this conflict could result in Triple H being replaced as Chief Content Officer (CCO).

The biggest shock, however, came with Coachman’s prediction: within 18 months, Triple H might no longer be in charge of WWE’s creative direction. The top candidate to replace him? Brian Gewirtz, a longtime friend of The Rock and a former WWE writer who worked with stars like Chris Jericho, Edge, and the “Brahma Bull” himself.

This situation comes at a delicate moment. Despite the company’s creative growth under Triple H, some recent decisions have begun to damage his image among fans. The departure of R-Truth, one of the most charismatic and beloved talents on the roster, was heavily criticized on social media. Carlito and Valhalla also revealed that their contracts will not be renewed, increasing the perception that something is off track.

For many fans, Triple H represents a bridge between WWE’s golden era and a new phase that is more in tune with the modern audience. He is seen as someone who understands wrestling not only as a business, but as an art form and a spectacle. However, with The Rock now positioned as a powerful figure within the company’s corporate structure, the political game appears far from over.

The potential replacement of Hunter by someone so closely tied to The Rock raises several questions. Are we heading into an era where corporate interests will outweigh the passion for wrestling? Or could a new leadership bring even more innovation to the brand, expanding its global presence and creating new ways to engage fans?

One thing is certain. Inside and outside the ring, WWE never stops surprising us. The only question is whose corner the fans will take when the next chapter of this power struggle is revealed.
