WWE Reportedly Eyeing Popular AEW Stars as Contracts Near Expiration

The world of professional wrestling might be heading toward another major shake-up. Recent reports suggest that WWE has been monitoring the contract situation within AEW, and three well-known names have reportedly caught the company’s attention. If the rumors are true, fans could soon witness some high-profile moves between the top two promotions in the industry.

One of the standout names is Danhausen, a wildly unique character who has built a cult following with his blend of comedy, charisma, and bizarre charm. With his “very nice, very evil” personality and painted face, Danhausen became a viral hit and merchandise juggernaut on the independent scene before signing with AEW. Despite suffering multiple injuries, including a torn pectoral muscle, he remained a fan favorite thanks to his entertaining presence and alliance with the Best Friends and Orange Cassidy. According to speculation, his contract is set to expire in July.

Another target for WWE appears to be the high-flying duo Private Party. Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen made their AEW debut during the very first episode of Dynamite in 2019 with an upset victory over The Young Bucks. Known for their flashy offense and chemistry, the team has been a regular part of the AEW tag division. They also had a memorable run as part of the Andrade-Hardy Family Office, led by Matt Hardy. While they have yet to win the AEW World Tag Team Titles, their potential remains high and their contracts are reportedly coming to an end.

Other notable AEW contracts are also set to expire soon. Renee Paquette, who plays dual roles as on-air talent and behind-the-scenes contributor, is reportedly signed through the fall. The tag team of Matt Menard and Angelo Parker, known as 2.0, are expected to become free agents in August. Chris Jericho, one of AEW’s founding figures, is believed to be under contract only until the end of 2025.

On the other hand, Jon Moxley is staying put. Despite online chatter, his contract with AEW is locked in through 2027, putting an end to any immediate speculation about a WWE return.

With so many key deals set to expire and WWE actively scouting television-ready talent, the coming months could bring major changes. As always in wrestling, what happens behind the scenes can be just as dramatic as what happens in the ring.
